Bos400 Shipwreck Hike – 14th Dec (Intermediate)

(2 customer reviews)

R500.00

An opportunity to explore Cape Town’s biggest shipwreck! A hike along the coast will reward you with epic views of this iconic Shipwreck situated on the coastline near Sandy Bay.

This hike is a must do for the Cape Town bucket list. Absolutely beautiful views along the coast. We will start the hike on a easy slope and follow a jeep track to the blockhouse. From here it will be a steep descent to a coastal path which at time will get the adrenaline pumping with sections that feels a bit exposed to the elements. There is one scramble section that will require using your hand and feet but the reward will be worth the while.

Difficulty: Intermediate to Moderate – It’s a bit long but not too strenuous as it’s along the coast and not to the top of the mountain, there are a couple of sections on the trail that is a bit exposed and one scramble. The route does get a bit technical too, we’ll take huge caution and work as a team to make it successful.

A crazy fear of heights will make for a real challenge. Expect some height elevation the last quarter of the hike so make sure you have the endurance to push through.

Yvette was the perfect guide on our recent hike to the Bos400 shipwreck. Sharing information and making us feel safe along the way.

The day started out rainy and cold, but the views from the trail was still amazing. The warm cup of coffee/tea at the destination warmed us up for the hike back. There are some slightly scary slopes, but Yvette guided as very well through some tricky parts. She has a lot of patience and has a positive attitude.

I wouldn’t recommend this trail for first time hikers or the super unfit as there are many steep inclines, jungle gym and rock climbing spots.

This was our first time hiking with Trailfitsa, and we’ll definitely book through them again.

    Thank you!

  2. Lindelani Mahlombe (verified owner)

It was a great hike, Yvette was a great guide, sharing information, supportive team, helping us through challenging spots, pulling us up during tricky scrambles, waiting for us when we felt tired and needed a break. Feeling safe in a group as the route was quite empty at the time of our hike.
Enjoyed the muffin and coffee during break and exploring different places at the wreck.
