Found along the 12 apostles mountain range on Table Mountain, Tranquility Cracks (aka yellow wood cracks) features huge Cracks in between massive boulders right at the top of the mountain forming a mini maze!
‘The Cracks’ are filled with yellow wood trees (South Africa’s national tree) and thick moss, the rock formations are unlike any other on Table Mountain and is just incredible to see and feel. Lots of people go in search but not all are lucky to find. The views are absolutely priceless.
The route starts with a gradual incline followed by roughly 45mins of steep ascent and flattens out when reaching the top.

Hiking Duration: 4-5 hrs at a good pace
Difficulty level: Intermediate – A few steep inclines but mostly gradual, we’ll take it easy on the tough sections and take breaks when necessary. There’s 1 steep section that takes roughly 45 minutes to ascend. If you’re unsure, rather enquire from us.

What a fantastic hike! It starts along the well known Pipe Track with gorgeous views of the Atlantic. The ascent is steep but doesn’t last too long. Once at the top, the fun was just beginning as we were led towards what only looked like some big boulders. Little did we know that within these lie the maze of the tranquillity cracks. Few know of them so they are one of the mountain’s best kept secret! Definitely worth having a guide to show you the way through the cracks
