Kogelbay Biosphere Reserve was South Africa’s first registered biosphere reserve and its pristine beauty abounds all year round! Join us for a hike through the Oudebosch Forest as we cross the saddle and hike down into the Harold Porter Botanical garden.
We’ll start from the Kogelbay Biosphere and follow the trail where we enter Oudebosch which provides some much appreciated shade. Expect mossy rocks and logs, forest birds and a cool stream. We’ll meander through the gorge, and once again hike among incredible fynbos to the top of the waterfall. From here, the views of the ocean and Betty’s Bay greet us as we make our way down a steep zig-zag path into the botanical gardens and visit the cascading waterfall!

This is a fantastic hike and day out in general. It was so good to explore a region other than Table Mountain. The hike isn’t too strenuous and all of the ascents lead to either a beautiful view, much needed shade in the forest, or spectacular waterfalls. The waterfalls were indeed spectacular! The swim in the Palmiet River at the end was also phenomenal, a real treat after the hiking. Can’t recommend this hike enough
