13 Peaks – Constantiaberg – 31 Jul (Intermediate)

R200.00

We are taking on the 13 Peaks Challenge over the next few weeks with our own special twist. We’ll tackle the peaks one (or two) at a time and reach a new summit each Saturday come rain or sunshine. The plan and routes are set out as day hikes from different locations around the Cape Peninsula.

At an elevation of 927m, Constantiaberg is the third highest peak in the Cape Peninsula and offers incredible views of Houtbay and Chapman’s Peak drive. There is a 100m high mast and a dome-shaped radar station at the summit which can be seen for 80km in any direction.

We’ll start from East Fort in Houtbay and make our way up Blackburn Ravine to Atla’s Pool for a short break. From here, we will continue our ascent, stopping at Sentinel View to take in the incredible vantage point over the quaint town of Houtbay. With a final push to the summit, we’ll have an elevation gain of 1089m. This is not a technical hike, but it requires some endurance as it is a steady climb to the summit with some switchbacks, beautiful flora and interesting rock faces.
