Groot Winterhoek Camp – 3 to 5 Jan 2025

Start the Year on by switching off and doing something unique for yourself by spending 3 days / 2 nights roughing it out. This is an Entry level camping experience designed for everyone(even kids)

Groot-Winterhoek Nature reserve is found on the mountain range above Porterville, it’s roughly 2.5 hours drive from Cape Town which makes it perfect for a mini road trip.

The area is home to beautiful landscapes featuring mind boggling rock formations and pristine rock pools, also… sleeping under millions of stars and waking up in the middle of nowhere will be special.

We’ll ideally camp close to these pools. Both days will be entry level distance, the first day will be mostly down hill towards the river to set up camp before sunset, second day we’ll hike further along the River, visit more rock pools and set up camp. The third day we’ll head back to the starting point.

What’s included : Qualified multiday guide and medic, 3x Dinner, 2x lunch / breakfast.
Gear included :Tents, rucksacks, sleeping mats will be included if you need – preparation details on what’s required will be sent to you when booking.

Meet up time : 1pm in Porterville

Checkout : 4pm on the 3rd

Location : Groot-Winterhoek Offices, Porterville

Difficulty level : Intermediate, you’ll be required to carry your rucksack for the duration, it’s not a long uphill climb though, day 2 is a very short hike to the next rock pools but day 3 will be host some incline and short steep sections as we make our way up the valley back to the parking lot.
