Grootkop Peak – 27 Dec (Endurance)

Very few locals or overseas visitors can say that they have hiked to Grootkop Peak. Yet, it is one of the most interesting peaks that make up the 12 Apostles (the chain of peaks extending on the west side of Table Mountain) and with an elevation of 857m it offers some of the best views on the mountain.
We’ll hike up Kasteelspoort, visit the famous “diving board” rock formation at the old cable car station then continue our journey along the top Apostles path.
Our next stop will be at Tranquility Cracks, a hidden gem up top featuring huge cracks in the mountain that we will navigate through and explore!
Our final stop will be Grootkop Peak, this comes with a short incline making us work for that magnificent 360 views. We’ll take a decent break here and have a bite to eat before making our way back via a circular route down Corridor Ravine.
Note: This is not an easy hike, however you also don’t need to be super fit but endurance to hike a long distance will be a plus. Safety is our main priority and we will do our best to minimize risks to ensure everyone completes the event safely. If you are unsure about your capability, please do enquire.

Duration: 6-7 hours (14kms complete)
Difficulty level: Involves hiking for a long duration and includes steep sections. Endurance will be required but we will hike at a comfortable pace.

What an amazing hike with so many highlights from diving board, tranquillity cracks and amazing views at the top of Grootkop. One gets a sense of the majesty of table mountain range and great perspective to see false bay, Hout Bay and camps bay from one 360 view! Idrees is the best!! Highly recommend this hike and Trailfit SA

Wow amazing guided hike with a full view of Cape Town.Idreees is one of the best guides out there .Difficult hike but we did it at a reasonable pace. A guided hike with Trailfit is the best way to go for locals and tourists.

Fantastic hike to Grootkop today via the famous Diving Board (which lived up to all expectations!), the incredible Tranquility Cracks and Grootkop Peak, from where you have 360° views of Cape Town.
Our hike leader, Idreees, was awesome! He was patient when we wanted to take a billion photos and videos of everything and the hike was completed at our own pace, which meant that we did not feel too tired at the end of it!
