Also known as the Greyton McGregor Trail, this 14km hike winds through the Riviersonderend Mountains linking the towns of McGregor and Greyton. We’ll start the hike from Greyton which is approximately 2 hours drive from Cape Town.
The scenery is incredible, featuring large rock pools, steep gorges and multiple waterfalls as you make your way through a breathtaking kloof. The hike starts off with a steep 6km climb, but after that you are treated with endless vistas and beautiful fynbos and is definitely worth every step.
We’ll take a break at Breakfast Rock and marvel at the valley below before continuing to the majestic Oakes Falls for a well deserved lunch break. Oakes Falls is a two tier waterfall and makes for a perfect dip in the fresh mountain pools!
With our final ascent up an historic mountain pass, we’ll arrive at the Boesmanskloof cottages where we will spend the night. Boasting breathtaking views of the valley, the cottage double is the perfect refuge after a day of hiking. Soak up the views of the valley, enjoy a hot shower and relax by the indoor fireplace when the weather cools down.
The cottage boasts 2 bedrooms: 1 double bed and two bunkbeds in the first bedroom with an en-suite bathroom. The second bedroom has three single beds with en en-suite bathroom.
Every room is equipped with linen and towels.
