Camel Rock – 17 Dec (Intermediate)

Camel Rock also known as Bel Ombre is situated at the top of the mountain between Constantia Corner and De Villiers Dam. This hike offers a bit of everything – views, landscapes and pretty vegetation.

We’ll begin with a steep but short (30mins) hike up to Eagles Nest, a perfect spot to catch the sunrise while enjoying a hot beverage. We’ll follow through with an adventurous hike up Constantia Corner which is the remainder of the ascent as it flattens out when getting to the top.

Just before we get to marvel at the iconic Camel Rock, we will take another short break at a cave-like rock formation overlooking the mountain top filled with a variety of fynbos. This is a circular loop route and the way back passes a De Villiers Reservoir.

Previous uphill hiking experience is a plus since it’s mostly uphill for the first half of the hike, there are a few short sections where you’ll need to use your hands while climbing but not too technical though. Safety is our highest priority and as such we will do everything possible to ensure everyone completes the hike safely.
